Progress Update – WC 22nd Jun
After just a few short weeks, the first fixing of the electrical work is done, the heating engineers have got their heads down and the new heating system is on schedule, the joiner is making great progress, the roofers are on top of things and the architect and project managers and still smiling! Although we said goodbye to our Fresco Cafe sign, we decided to keep a hold of the rather dated ‘Now wash your hands’ sign – a timely reminder of the global pandemic we still find ourselves in.
I guess the building it’s called Criffel View for a reason – the roofers get a great view from the top of the scaffolding! With all the new glass that’s going into the building, we guarantee there will be great views from ground level too. As the name implies, you get a great view of Criffel from the building (a good climb if you’re feeling energised some day!), but we also have some less strenuous, but equally beautiful walks to enjoy within the grounds of The Crichton itself.
The grounds and gardens span 85 acres and are enjoyed by local residents, tourists, tenants, students and all those who work and visit the site, so if you decide to frequent Crichton Central, we are pretty sure you will be hard pressed to decided whether you should relax in the comfort of our new cafe or grab a quite takeaway and explore the grounds during your lunch break – either way, what a great dilemma to have.
Since our last update, we’ve seen floors coming up in preparation for the new underfloor heating system going in too.
We have also recognised the challenge that lies ahead in repairing the veranda around the front of the building and we have seen walls coming down to create the new entrance to Crichton Central. Before long you’ll be making your way through our new doorway and reconnecting with the world from Crichton Central. Walk this way!
