LOCAL CONTRACTORS APPOINTED TO SUPPORT THE DELIVERY OF CRICHTON CENTRAL
The Crichton Trust has ambitious plans to turn Criffel View into Crichton Central – a state-of-the-art co-working space on the grounds of The Crichton in Dumfries.
With funding support secured from the Scottish Government through the South of Scotland Economic Partnership (now South of Scotland Enterprise), The Crichton Trust is now in a position to announce the appointment of the local partners and contractors who have been commissioned to deliver the Crichton Central project in 2020.
Gordon Clark, Head of Property at The Crichton Trust is project managing the £xxxxx redevelopment said: “I am delighted to say that The Crichton Trust has appointed a number of local contractors to deliver the Crichton Central project. 2020 has been a very challenging year for businesses, so we made a conscious decision to employ the services of local trades and contractors to design, project manage and deliver the refurbishment of Criffel View. Crichton Central will provide new opportunities for businesses when it opens, but we feel strongly that local trades should benefit from the opportunity to work on the design and construction stages too. We have the skills and capacity to deliver high quality projects locally and that is exactly what we aim to do with Crichton Central. I very much look forward to working with these local contractors and creating something we can all be proud of.”

Given the purpose of Crichton Central, it is even more important that we engage local businesses, not only to share the financial benefits of the local investment, but also to provide local people with the opportunity to work on and feel part of this exciting project. Crichton Central is all about building relationships, making connections, driving innovation, creating opportunities and working in collaboration. By making these appointments, we are confirming our commitment to the local business community.
Gwilym added: “To date we have appointed designers, architects, health and safety professionals and of course a range of trades including roofing contractors, flooring contractors, joiners, builders, electricians, plasterers and plumbers and others, but our commitment to local businesses does not stop there. We will also employ the services of other local organisations to support us as the project develops. It is also great to see members of our staff and management teams relishing the opportunity to work on this project and to see the optimism of our tenants and partners too. There is a lot of passion for Crichton Central and this is only the beginning.”
The Crichton Trust would like to acknowledge the South of Scotland Economic Partnership (now South of Scotland Enterprise) for financially supporting the development of Crichton Central.
