Coffee and a chat anyone?

We have started 2021 in lockdown and there is no where inviting to go for coffee and a chat. All cafes and restaurants are closed, we need to wait outside in the cold to collect takeaways, we continue to work from home and meet others virtually via Zoom and we can only travel for essential purposes. While we are fortunate to have 85 acres of beautifully landscapes grounds and gardens to enjoy regular exercise, we can only meet up with one person from one another household and everywhere we go we need to wear a face covering, stay 2 metres apart from others and sanitise our hands at every opportunity. Its fair to say that although we understand the need for these strict measures we are all missing the opportunity to meet with our friends, family and colleagues. Who would have thought that in 2021, meeting for a coffee and a chat would be off limits?

While we can’t meet for a coffee, we have been busy working hard to make sure we have our new Crichton Central cafe ready for you all to enjoy a coffee and a chat as soon as we are able and we can’t wait for you to join us! You can see the cafe starting to take shape back in the summer of 2020…

Crichton Central is all about collaboration and we are excited about bringing you all together under this roof to start new conversations, to develop new ideas, to build relationships and to inspire creativity and innovation. We are pretty sure this will all start with a coffee and a chat in our new cafe, so whether you drop-in to pick up a sandwich to take it back to your desk, whether you plan to meet colleagues or suppliers here for a catch-up or whether you’re a freelancer coming along for company and a change of scene, we are confident that your visit to Crichton Central will involve the start of something new and hopefully the start of something great!

Over time, it will be possible to become a member of Crichton Central and to make the most of our membership services and facilities, but after the year we’ve all had, we hope to start by welcoming you into our new cafe and takeaway and to ease ourselves back into the world of meeting with others in a safe environment as soon as we can. Crichton Central was always going to be a spacious building, set in a spacious grounds, but the timing of the development has allowed us to tweak and adapt our plans to ensure Crichton Central is a Covid-friendly space for our team, our members and our visitors and before long we’ll be opening our doors to welcome you all in to enjoy a coffee and a chat in our new airy cafe or in our sunny outdoor terrace if you prefer.

Here you can see that the space is starting to resemble a kitchen and service area.

Our plans are coming along nicely and our chefs are busy preparing new menus to tempt you into our cafe which will be open daily from 8am to 6pm 7 days a week and later for special events and private bookings.

As well as a large open cafe and a takeaway service, Crichton Central will also have a members’ lounge, meeting rooms, private pods, outdoor meeting space, a recording studio and radio station and a stage for hosting live performances, public lectures and networking events.

Pending Government Guidelines and the successful roll-out of Covid vaccinations in 2021, this new facility will open in the Spring and we hope you will join us for coffee and a chat. Who knows where it might lead us, but we are very excited to find out.
